Tashkent is hosting the Fifth Asian Athletics U18 Championship
The Fifth Asian U18 Athletics Championships among young men and women will be held in Uzbekistan for the first time from April 27 to April 30. Young athletes are coming to Tashkent from 40 Asian countries, including China, the UAE, Japan, India, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and others. The organizers of this one of the most prestigious sports events of the year for young athletes are the Asian Athletics Association, the Asian Athletics Federations, the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Olympic Committee, the Athletics Federation of Uzbekistan and Uzbekneftegaz JSC.
524 athletes from 40 countries of the world have been announced within the framework of the upcoming Championship. They will perform in 40 disciplines within four days. The competition program includes: short and medium distance running, relay race, jumping, discus, javelin and hammer throwing, shot put, walking, heptathlon among girls and decathlon among boys.
An interesting fight at the championship is expected in running disciplines. The competition is attended by the best young athletes of the Asian continent in the 100 and 200 meters distances – Korean athletes Joel-Jin Nwamadi and Kim Dongjin and a Malaysian athlete Muhammad Fiross Bin Mohd Fazal.
At other distances there is a strong team from India: Himanshi Rati, Priyanshu, Aman Kumar, Bapi Hansda, as well as Rezona Mallik Hina, the owner of the second result of this season in the world in the 400 meters.
Chinese Xinyi Tian, who is the leader of the 2022 world season, will compete in the shot put. One of the leaders of the current world season from Taipei, Tzu-Chye Wang is announced for the pole vault.
At the Championship one of the strongest young athletes in the triple jump, the 2022 World junior champion Sharifa Davronova will defend the honor of Uzbekistan in the long jump and triple jump.
"The Asian U18 Championship is a serious professional growth step for the talented youth in athletics," notes Andrey Abduvaliev, Chairman of the Central Asian Association of Athletics Federations and Deputy Chairman of the Athletics Federation of Uzbekistan, "The organizers have carried out thorough preparations for the V Asian Youth Championship, including the reconstruction of the sports complex where the competition will take place. The treadmills were updated in accordance with the requirements of the international athletics association World Athletics, convenient transport logistics for all participants and hotel accommodation of sports teams were developed."
Free admission to the stands on the grounds territory of the Athletics Federation Sports Complex is organized for all sports fans who want to support the young athletes during the Fifth Asian U18 Championship, and the accreditation for the mass media representatives is opened.
